Anasûrimbor Inrilatas was the second son and fifth child of Kellhus and Esmenet, insane and imprisoned on the Andiamine Heights. He inherited more of his father's traits than any his siblings.[1][2]

Appearance[]

Inrilatas has a long face, blue eyes, and a mane of golden hair[3]. He has stubble covering his chin and the line of his jaw, but not reaching his cheeks[3]. He possesses a muscular body[3].

Story[]

What Came Before[]

Inrilatas matured rapidly even by the standards of Kellhus' children, something that deeply unnerved his half-sister Mimara, who Esmenet tried to actively involve in his upbringing. He supposedly possessed the full measure of his father's intellect and his mother's emotions, which inevitably drove him insane. As a young child, he told her that the reason she mistreated their mother was not to avenge her slavery but because she was broken inside, and could not tolerate kindness like a whipped dog that sees only the raised hand.

At some point he underwent training under his father in hopes that learning to read the thoughts of others through their faces would help him master his own passions. Instead, he used his natural gifts and this training to better control those around him, seeing completely through them and seeing them as little more than toys - by becoming so familiar with the 'soul' or consciousnesses of others, they lost all meaning to him. One of these toys was his sister Theliopa, who he 'seduced' - when asked if it was seduction or rape, she merely answered 'we are Dunyain,' effectively saying the distinction was moot for one such as him - and deliberately psychologically broke as a child, having sex with her until he was locked away. He (and later his mere memory) was the only one ever able to make Theliopa cry, which he did via his nickname for her 'Srancy' - a reference to this violation and the famous lusts of the sranc. From this point until his death, he spent most of his time screaming and raving in his locked room.[4]
